Phi Eta Sigma is the oldest and largest national honor society that encourages and rewards academic excellence achieved during the first year in college.

Our Chapter

The Florida State University (FSU) chapter is one of twelve campus-wide honor societies officially recognized by The Florida State University and is an active member of the Council of Honor Societies. The Florida State chapter, which is among the largest in the society, typically welcomes 1,000 - 1,200 undergraduates into membership at our annual spring induction ceremony.

As a highly active chapter, our members are frequently recognized with national scholarships. Our long standing support of undergraduate research was rewarded when, with the help of many charitable donors, our chapter raised $25,000 to endow an award which provides $1,000 annually to fund a member’s undergraduate research. To read more about this scholarship go to Phi Eta Sigma Endowed Award for Undergraduate Research.

We are now working to increase our endowment fund so more members will receive this award. Contributions are welcome.

How to Join

Every spring, students who have (or had) a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher at the close of a full-time curricular period during the first year in college are invited to join Phi Eta Sigma. Undergraduates who miss the initial enrollment period are still eligible to be inducted as long as he/she maintains a 3.3 or higher grade point average.
